Russian soprano Daria Kalinina began her studies with Olga Kurzhumova at the Academic College of Music at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.
From 2015, Kalinina took singing lessons with Prof. Thomas Heyer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt on Main, where she graduated her Bachelor of Arts with distinction. In 2019, she started her Masters at the Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich, where she studies with Prof. Lars Woldt.
The soprano has taken part in a number of masterclasses, with renowned artists including Helmut Deutsch, Andreas Burzik, Ian Bostridge, Cornelia Preissinger, Nicola Beller Carbone and others.
She has worked with conductors and directors such as Olivier Tambosi, Nicholas Cleobury, Valterri Rauhalammi, Hermann Bäumer, Elisabeth Stöppler, Wolfgang Nägele and others.
Daria Kalinina is in demand all over Germany as a versatile young opera singer. In summer 2017, she made her debut as Susanna in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Theatre Festival in Bad Vilbel (Burgfestspiele Bad Vilbel), and the year after she was asked back to play Gretel in Humperdinck’s “Hansel und Gretel”. In the same year as her debut, Kalinina performed Oscar in a German language version of “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the Chamber Opera Frankfurt (Kammeroper Frankfurt).
2019 saw the soprano sing the role of Alciloe in “Idalide” by Mozart at Thüringer Theater Rudolstadt. With the roles of Barbarina in “Le nozze di Figaro”, and both Sandmann and Taumann in “Hansel and Gretel”, Kalinina appeared at the State Theatre in Mainz (Staatstheater Mainz) in the 2018/19 season, and as Xenia in “Boris Godunov” for the 2018/19 season. At the state theater Darmstadt (Staatstheater Darmstadt) Kalinina portrayed the role of Celestina in the opera “Pit and Paula” by Bernd Wilden.
At Opera Frankfurt, Daria Kalinina played Adina in “L’elisir d’amore“ (Donizetti) in an adaptation for children in 2019. In the summer of 2021, Kalinina will make her debut as Constanze in Mozart’s “Entführung aus dem Serail”.
